Daily Step – Individuality

Share

Along the journey towards the greater, there are many small, daily steps to better understand oneself, God, and others. This is one of my “daily steps”.

Daily steps are published first on Social Media @gdcrowder.

A little #throwbackthursday for #halloween… this was our first Halloween with all three boys. Can you tell my oldest was super-excited to be put into a costume he didn’t choose?⠀

At the time, he was barely three and with undiagnosed hearing loss, he could not tell us much about what he wanted. So, we made a set of costumes that were pretty predictable for a set of identical twins and their older brother. And clearly, he was not happy.⠀

Later that night, however, he happily put his own combo together, featured in the second photo, and dashed down our alley to go find some candy! ⠀

One of my favorite quotes from #ThomasMerton says: ⠀

“It is true to say that for me sanctity consists in being myself and for you sanctity consists of being yourself and that, in the last analysis, your sanctity will never be mine and mine will never be yours, except in the communism of charity and grace. ⠀

For me to be a saint means to be myself. Therefore the problem of sanctity and salvation is in fact the problem of finding out who I am and of discovering my true self.”⠀

I have enjoyed watching each of these boys continue to discover each day who they are as individuals and as party of our family. I pray they can be exactly who God created them to be… for being true to yourself, that’s the way to sainthood.⠀
