Daily Step – Open to Growth

Along the journey towards the greater, there are many small, daily steps to better understand oneself, God, and others. This is one of my “daily steps”.

Daily Steps are posted first on Social Media @gdcrowder

Fun #Friday fact about me: I started out in college majoring in aerospace engineering.⠀

I was tutoring someone in math yesterday that was surprised to learn I also do freelance writing on the side. Not to mention how many times he and I have gone through what exactly it is I do for a full time job. From math teacher to campus minister and writer with a few other things in between, it can be a little confusing. ⠀

There was a point in my life where I thought I would only be one thing, do one thing, and I had to decide that as quickly as possible so I could major in the “right” major and get the “right” job. ⠀
But as much as I love my engineering friends… I would have been miserable if I had stayed in that first path. And a few that followed as well.⠀

There is a quote from #CSLewis that I love about how one is never quite finished being re-built in life. He says:⠀

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”⠀

I think 18 year old me would like to meet 39 year old me and sit down and talk about how incredible life can be when you are open to being rebuilt by God.⠀

What is #God building in you today? Are you open to letting God make you into one incredible palace?⠀

I pray for each of us today to be open to the #Spirit moving in our hearts inviting us to be open to more.⠀⠀
