I don’t know if I have much to say this morning except a short reflection on these words from Anne Lamott:
“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.”
But the kicker is…
… you have to show up.
That’s such an important part.
And sometimes such a hard part as well.
Life gets in the way.
Fear gets in the way.
Doubt and uncertainty get in the way.
Maybe even a bit of apathy sometimes…
You may wonder if your voice really matters.
You may wonder if your voice is even uttering the right words after all.
The truth is… we don’t ever know for sure what our voice can do… what it will do if we use it…
But we do know that if we stay silent….
It will do nothing.
So whatever it is you need to show up to today, whatever path is blocked right now because of fear, doubt, uncertainty, apathy and more…
Cling to the hope that if you show up…
And try to do the right thing (whatever your conscious has deemed that to be)…
The dawn will come.
Just show up.
And I’ll do the same.
