Are you filled with answers right now?

Or lots and lots of questions?

Do you think one is a better state to be in than the other?

As an adult, I feel like I should know a few more answers than I do. I feel like I should be a bit more entrenched in fact as I age – like somehow time and experience should have shown me all I needed to know by now.

But instead, I just seem to collect more and more questions.

Some that perhaps have answers yet to be discovered…

and others that will continue to allude me for a lifetime.

I desire answers because…. Why?

As an adult I should have them?

Answers give me a sense of control?

Answers are easier than the unknown that comes with questions?

Maybe I have forgotten how exciting the questions can be!

Or maybe I have forgotten how questions leave me open to hearing another person’s story, another person’s perspective, another person’s truth.

Maybe I have forgotten that questions allow me to live with a sense of wonder.

So are you filled with answers right now?

Or lots and lots of questions?

Which is the better place to be?

“Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelous to be understood…

Let me keep my distance, always, from those
who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say “Look!” and laugh in astonishment, and bow their heads.”
