An oversized bicycle with fresh flowers lining the basket as it prepares to take someone riding through the hills of a quaint, quiet town… maybe even a town near some clear blue water.
Isn’t that a peaceful image?
Boy do I need to focus on a peaceful image this morning. Do you?
I spent most of last night tossing and turning about a lot of things. Part of my restlessness was caused by the insane back and forth schedule I have for me and my kids this week. Lots of driving back and forth, lots of trying to figure out new places and how to get there on time, lots of work scrunched into not big enough chunks of time. And lots of hope that each of my boys has a wonderful experience, of course. And maybe a little worry that they won’t?
It’s summer! I shouldn’t be this anxious about summer! But that’s not how anxiety works, is it? You can get anxious about a whole lot of things, even when it doesn’t seem to make sense even to you.
So, this morning as I prepare to dive right into the chaos (oh how I loathe chaos)… my prayer is focused on a bicycle with fresh flowers in its basket and this prayer I love (that literally is attributed to three Saints named Teresa so… let’s just say by “anonymous” unless someone has a definitive author)
“May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.”
Wishing you much peace this Monday morning.
