I started my day grumpy.
I know, it’s not the first time. I’m not sure what made me so grumpy. I think it was a combination of things. It’s been a long week.
I hate when I’m so grumpy because the little things become the BIG things. The boys quietly bickering in the car feels instead like they are reenacting a scene from fight club. The pending rain and bad Spring weather predicted this afternoon feels like a tornado cloud is sitting inches from me all day long just waiting to wreak havoc on my whole day.
Being grumpy in the morning feels like a dozen dark rain clouds, doesn’t it? It has the effect of making your whole day dark and damp if you let it.
But I don’t have to let it. You don’t have to let it. We have a choice and we have God who is waiting to help us see the rainbow through the clouds if we allow it.
This morning, these lovely words I refer to again and again (which I’ve learned are attributed to many people so I’m not sure exactly who wrote it) are my prayer:
May today there be peace within.
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you are.
Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.”
Have a very colorful chip Friday!
