Along the journey towards the greater, there are many small, daily steps to better understand oneself, God, and others. This is one of my “daily steps”.
This little boy grew up and spent a few year post college graduation serving his country. He later had a son who also served. ⠀

I get the privilege of watching several students leave my school each year and enter into service academies or ROTC programs to serve and protect. I can’t imagine that call is always easy to accept.⠀

I look at my boys each day and wonder about what lies ahead for them… what unique plans and dreams God has for each of them. And whatever they choose to do, I’m grateful they have these examples of men who served. I hope it reminds them that we are a part of a larger community. I hope it inspires them to care for others and look beyond themselves.⠀

My prayer today is with all those who have served or are serving… that today and everyday they may feel seen and loved and celebrated. And for all of us, that we can remember to see, love, and celebrate those who answered this unique call to serve.⠀
