Daily Step – Judgement

Share

Along the journey towards the greater, there are many small, daily steps to better understand oneself, God, and others. This is one of my “daily steps”.

Sometimes when everyone is screaming and still no one can yet reach the cups on the shelf to get their own water – I wonder why three kids in two years was a thing God entrusted us with…⠀

But there are also moments when they all walk at just the right pace so they can share the one small umbrella. The moments where they are at a doctor’s appointment or a friends house alone and must make sure they get three lollipops or parting gifts so that no brother will be sad. There are the moments when the identical twins come home thrilled with the notion that they share something few brothers do… these are the moments when I get to witness God at work and when I am able to recognize that you can not judge a book by its first chapter…⠀

In his book #tattoosontheheart , #gregboyle writes “No part of our hardwiring or our messy selves is to be disparaged. Where we stand, in all our mistakes and imperfections is holy ground… It is certainly true that you can’t judge a book by its first chapter – even if that chapter is twenty years long. When the vastness is God meets the restriction of our own humanity, words can’t hold it. The best we can do is find the moments that rhyme with this expansive heart of God.”⠀

My prayer for all of us today is that we can find the moments that rhyme with this expansive heart of God and capture them in our hearts when words fail us.⠀
