As we begin a new year, I invited guests to reflect on what their #dailystep #towardthegreater would be for 2020. Today’s post is from @majormojo, Monique Jacobs. It is also her birthday today! Here is her step:
“Let Go, Let God.
I was born first generation American, the eldest child in an immigrant family: the first of all of us to go to school and learn the traditions and practices of in this country. I am also a One on the Enneagram which makes me someone who strives to care for the world – for others – in ways that makes the responsibility pretty personal. I guess you could say that no one ever asked me to carry this burden of love, but “to those whom much is given, much is expected,” right? At least that has been the drumbeat of my life to this point. If it needs fixing, I show up.
This actually makes me very happy – to serve in this way – but I find, lately, that it isn’t leading to an inner freedom. The freedom of #towardthegreater, a lovingly held, practical Ignatian mantra, is a freedom which lets me believe that the Divine is in charge. As I lean toward this practice for 2020, I pray for 2020 vision as well, “Holy One, allow my heart to surrender the need to take your place in the world as it’s savior. YOU are the One who brings light and healing to this world. You save. Help me to put my overworked sense of responsibility in the back seat and to hand you the keys. I, too, then can be recipient of your mercy and love…not just it’s dispenser to others!” So, pray for me and I will, for you on our #dailystep hopes.”
