Today I am over at Ignatian Solidarity Network writing for their weekly Rise Up series.
Each Monday, they post a reflection on the previous Sunday’s readings, a reflection connected to social justice and our call to solidarity with others. They also post an audio reflection on their podcast.
I write today about the memory of a great man, a child who reminded me of our call to solidarity, and the preoccupied apostles in yesterday’s Gospel.
Here’s an excerpt:
“The apostles in today’s Gospel were also preoccupied. Jesus had just informed them of his pending death, and it is clear that they do not understand what is about to happen. So instead, they continue the journey caught up in their own concerns as if Jesus had said nothing at all. Did they wonder later, like I did, if they had loved him well enough in this moment and in many other moments along the way?”
