Is anyone else feeling a bit of anxiety about stepping back into the world this week?
Even if you didn’t get a whole lot of time off, the normal routine has been on vacation for most of us for a bit now.
So how do we put one foot in front of the other and jump back in?
I don’t know.
But I know we can’t do it alone.
This poem I wrote tonight has become my prayer as I prepare my heart for what comes next.
May it be yours too if you need it to be.
LET’S WALK, SHALL WE?
I know it’s time…
past time really
to put one foot
in front of the other
over and over again
until I reach
the threshold
that separates
what was
from
what will be.
I know it’s time…
past time really
to put one foot
in front of the other
over and over again
until I can feel exactly
how my body
handles
this new and
quite unwanted
weight it carries.
I know it’s time…
past time really
to put one foot
in front of the other
over and over again
until I see
how all
new pieces
just added
to my life puzzle
fit.
So fine!
I’ll do it, Lord!
I’ll put one foot
in front of the other
over and over again
but only if
you do the same
… and
lend me an arm
as we walk,
won’t you?
