As I listened to Sunday’s second reading being proclaimed in mass yesterday morning, the words struck me anew… and I couldn’t stop thinking about them.
The words of 1 Corinthians 12 reminded me that I am called BOTH to recognize my individual dignity and worth AND recognize the dignity and worth of all others in my community.
If I believe in the intentional creation of myself for some purpose, I have to also acknowledge the intentional creation of each and every person I encounter.
I have to also remember that we do indeed belong to one another and community is essential to truly be Christ’s hands and feet in this world, to truly bring about the Kingdom of God on earth.
My word of 2025 is harmony, and today I’m considering what it means to build a harmonious community instead of a discordant one.

For reflection:
- What is my chosen gift to offer the world? How will I offer it this week?
- Can I seek to recognize anew the gifts of others around me this week and how they are essential to our communal whole?
