I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but I know I do. So I’ll place it here for you so you can return to it whenever you need the reminder: You are enough.
Summer always makes me feel off my game. I thrive on routine, and there is nothing routine about summer.
So today, I needed a reminder that even when I feel off my game – God is still there cheering me on and doing the same for you as well!
May this prayer I offer you today be yours as well if you need it as much as I do.
ENOUGH
Some weeks
I’m tripping over
discarded shoes,
scattered legos,
full laundry baskets,
walking gingerly over
floors overdue
for a good clean.
But even in that chaos,
You say:
“You are enough.”
Some weeks
I’m tripping over
my misplaced words,
my misguided actions,
the things I meant
to do and say,
the person
I meant to be.
But even in that chaos,
You say:
“You are enough.”
Oh Lord,
how I want
to believe
THESE words
instead of
the words
I speak to myself
in the midst of
this chaotic life.
Oh Lord,
how I want
to believe
THESE words
instead of
the words
I let others
speak to me
as they observe
me in my chaos.
Help me believe.
When my inner critic
is loud,
please, Lord,
be LOUDER.
When external voices
make me forget
this truth,
please, Lord,
be INSISTENT.
Shout these words
over and over
into my ears
until they become
a part of me
that can’t be
erased.
I
AM
ENOUGH.
